General Site Information

Girlguiding Sheffield Outdoor Activities Centre offers the perfect setting for a residential stay or camp and is ideal for Rainbows, Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, Guides, Scouts, Senior Section and Leaders.  We also welcome school and other youth groups.  Corporate bookings are considered mid-week and out of season.

We have 2 residential buildings, Renwick, sleeping 30, Plimsoll, sleeping 24 and 4 camp fields accommodating up to 55 people on each field.

We offer a number of activities, all of which can be arranged as part of a residential stay, camp or a day / evening visit.  Our grounds can be booked to hold your evening meeting or for a day / evening visit.

On site we also have:

Bolsover Barn:  Available as a camp kitchen to those who have booked camping sites.  Bolsover can be used as a meeting room for small groups.  It is especially popular with evening groups wanting to provide refreshments. (Please note Bolsover Barn cannot be used as sleeping accommodation).

Dale Barn has fridges & freezers for campers’ use.  Please check with the Warden regarding access

Gainsford Barn:  Open to everyone.  A large barn situated in the courtyard. There are times when the barn is reserved exclusively for groups using the climbing wall. There is an open fireplace – popular for indoor campfires – ample chairs, benches and tables.

Camp Fire Circle:  The circle has fixed wooden bench seating. It is available for all groups at all times; there is no booking system. We hope that all groups will join together in true Guiding/Scouting spirit. Having this facility means we do not allow campfire size fires on the campsites. The campfire circle’s picturesque setting makes it ideal to use as a chapel. There is an altar stone. Please feel free to use this area for Guides / Scouts Own, services, ceremonies, quiet prayers or private thoughts.

Wood:  We do have a supply of wood on the woodpile.  Please check with the office before your arrival how much is available.

Fires: All fires must be altar fires, built off the ground either on the concrete bases provided or properly supervised on your site, using the equipment provided. There is a backwoods area where groups may practice lighting small fires directly on the ground. Brushes, shovels & hot ash bins are provided; we ask each group to clear away after use. Fires MUST NOT be situated in or near to wet weather shelters

Camp Shop:  Stocks OAC T-shirts and badges as well as a range of gifts, drinks, sweets and souvenirs.   The shop usually opens at 5 pm on a Saturday evening.  Please contact the OAC if you wish to order T-shirts, badges etc prior to your stay.

Please Note  We are strictly a no smoking site, this includes the use of E-cigarettes.
