Sheffield and its surrounding area offers a wide range of exciting activities.  There are numerous local walks from our Centre and a short journey will take you into Sheffield City Centre or to the magnificent Peak District.

To help you plan your adventures away from the site, we’ve listed a few ideas for things to do.  Please check local websites for further details of opening times and what is on offer.

Activities in Sheffield City Centre

  • Ponds Forge – swimming – Sheaf Street, S1 2BP www.siv.org.uk
  • Cinemas –  The Light, Odeon, Curzon and Showroom
  • Skate Central – Queens Road, Sheffield – bus or tram from city centre – public roller skating in evenings only www.skatecentral.co.uk
  • Sheffield Museums www.museum-sheffield.org.uk offer a number of sites including Weston Park Museum,  Millenium Gallery and  Kelham Island Museum (www.simt.co.uk )

To get to the City Centre check out our local Buses

Either walk to Fulwood and catch 120 or 83a (Both Stagecoach and First Mainline) or walk to Bents Green and catch 83 or 88 (Both Stagecoach and First Mainline) – check their website for up to date timetables – www.firstgroup.com/southyorkshire  or  www.stagecoachbus.com

Activities accessible by the tram towards and including Meadowhall

Once in the city centre, catch the yellow marked tram from the Cathedral stop towards Meadowhall or Parkgate Rotherham – www.stagecoachbus.com/supertram

  • Hillsborough – Swimming – Beulah Road, S6 2AN – bus into city centre and then either bus to Hillsborough or Tram towards Middlewood – getting off at Hillsborough Park and walking through it. www.siv.org.uk

If you want to go further you could try the following places, but they are more difficult to get to by public transport, so we suggest hiring a minibus or small coach:
